John F. Resek Ph.D. Partner

John F. Resek joined the firm as a partner in 2017. With over 15 years of experience as a patent attorney, Dr. Resek is a passionate advocate for his clients. The majority of his patent practice focuses on client counseling, opinions of counsel, patent preparation and prosecution, due diligence, and inter-partes proceedings. His clients also benefit from his insights gained as a patent litigator.  He frequently advises clients on issues related to the Hatch-Waxman Act.

Dr. Resek has experience with a variety of technologies, but the majority of his work has been with chemistry and the life sciences. He has worked with inventions related to small molecule therapeutics, antibody-based therapeutics, nutraceuticals and chemical engineering. His scientific training was in chemical biology and his technical expertise includes biochemistry, chemistry, medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology and protein chemistry.

Dr. Resek was working as a drug discovery scientist in a biotech company when he decided to exchange his lab coat for a career in patent law. At the time, he had earned a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin, and completed a post-doc at M.I.T. with Nobel Laureate H. Gobind Khorana. Mr. Resek went on to obtain his J.D. from Fordham Law School.
