I joined Carter DeLuca in April of 2005 after performing patent consulting work in-house at Estee Lauder for about a year. My goal at the time was to get some private practice experience at the firm and then go in-house at a pharmaceutical company. I did not imagine then that after eleven years I would still be at Carter DeLuca as a partner because I did not realize the great opportunity I was walking into. My job here has groomed me both personally and professionally. It has made me realize the potential I have to grow and provided the opportunities to do so. I am empowered to perform at my best and deliver excellent service every day. Carter DeLuca values hard work, a can-do spirit, a positive attitude and team work. These values have allowed me to build my own department, become the first woman partner, and continue to build my business and network. My eleven years at Carter DeLuca have been the most rewarding and best learning years of my career. I started at Carter DeLuca full time as a technical advisor while taking part-time evening classes at law school. At that point, I had spent almost eight years as an engineer in various organizations, had no legal experience, and had no idea what it would be like to be a part of a law firm. From the outset, Carter DeLuca treated me like family. They took a vested interest in me, my family, and ensuring that I would be able to progress as an attorney. The welcoming nature of everyone at the firm made the transition from engineering to law significantly easier than I had anticipated.
While attending law school, Carter DeLuca was respectful of the obligations I had for class and went out of their way to make sure I was in the best position to excel and ultimately graduate with my J.D. While studying for the bar exam, one of the more stressful periods of my life, Carter DeLuca provided tremendous support to my family and me, which was essential to my ability to pass.
Knowing I had no legal experience, the team at Carter DeLuca took the time to mentor me, a process that is ongoing and has enabled me to continue to strengthen my abilities as an attorney. Everyone at Carter DeLuca is approachable and is willing to take the time out of their busy schedules to answer any questions I have and to provide guidance.
